Spring Concert/Symphonic Band concert

















At the final Concert and Symphonic Band concert Mr. Buti took time out to award Music and Color Guard students. Pictured above Seniors are announced and presented a gift from the Music Boosters. Other awards included: Most Improved, Service Awards, JV and Varsity Letters
and the John Philip Sousa award and Howard Sandlund Fine Arts Awards.

Drummers can hit just about anything...
Mr. Buti introduces the Percussion section before they performed "Street Beats" stating that anything around the house can be used as a percussion instrument...and they did. During this piece they used the table, various sizes of buckets, a brake drum from a car and a large garbage can. It sounded great!

Mr. Kendall Hastings final concert...

 

      

 

 

 

 

        
           At the conclusion of the concert students presented Mr. Hastings with a few gifts and flowers.

Mr. Hastings conducted his last Spring Orchestra Concert at RMHS on Wednesday, May 21st in the Theater. Awards were passed out to a few students and parting flowers and gifts were given to Mr. Hastings. Although he is retiring from District 214 Mr. Hastings said he is still going to work. The Music Boosters "Thank" you for dedication over the years. Enjoy your retirement! For his final concert he Orchestra performed:Dances from a New England Album 1856, First Suite in E-Flat Gustav Holst, Where the Black Hawk Soars and the Empire Strikes Back Medley.

2008 Spring Orchestra concert


The Symphonic Band performed at John Hersey H.S. Concert Band Festival. One of the piece played was "The Marriage of Figaro" by Mozart. After their performance the Band went to a Clinic to work further on that piece with a Professor from Northwestern University.

RMHS hosts District 214 Symphonic Band Festival
 
       Ms. Mary Luckritz the Director of Fine Arts at Rolling Meadows High School emceed the District's concert
Rolling Meadows High School was the host again to the District's Symphonic Band Festival on February 13th. Elk Grove, Prospect and Rolling Meadows High Schools participated. This year's guest conductor was Dr.Thomas Caneva; Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Ball State University. Band Directors Chris Buti/Rolling Meadows, Ron Fiorito/Elk Grove and Chris Barnum/Prospect also conducted their Symphonic bands.

RMHS students selected to District 214 Honors Band
Congratulations to the following students for being selected: Philip Bertrand/Trombone, Betsy Cataldo/French Horn, DaeHan Choi/Clarinet, Laura Collins/Flute, Maddie Conlin/Clarinet, Lisa Delmedico/Clarinet, Matt Graf/Trumpet, Tina Hahn/Bass Clarinet, Lauren Jacobs/Bassoon, Kim Kelly/Euphonium Anna Kinney/Flute, Joey Klein/Alto Sax, Jarad Kleinstein/Percussion, Kathy Mark/Flute Brittany Meyer/Tuba, T.J. Mitchell/Percussion, Wendy Purse/Clarinet, Christine Rueger/Trumpet, Jenna Shumaker/French Horn, Anna Tam/Euphonium. These students performed with others from the district's High Schools at the District 214 Honors Music Festival on Wednesday, March 5th at Fairview Educational Center.


RMHS violinist 1st runner up at District 214 competition

Senior violinist Gloria was awarded 1st runner-up in the District 214 Honors Orchestra Instrumental Concerto held at Forest View on Wednesday, January 16th. Competitors performed at a recital before a panel of judges who selected the winners from six District 214 finalists. Gloria performed a concerto as a solo piece with the Honors Orchestra on March 5th.


2007 Holiday Music Concert sets the season right!

The Holiday Music concert left everyone in the mood for the holidays. This concert always plays to a full house and this year was no exception. Performances from Combined Concert and Symphonic Bands, Percussion ensembles, Choirs, String Orchestra, Madrigals and Orchestra filled the theatre with the sounds of the season. A few of the selections performed were: "The eighth Candle", Alleluia, Alleu", "Christmas Classics", "Away in a Manger" "Glorious sounds of Christmas" and the Finale "Halelujah" Chorus from "The Messiah"

RMHS Music students named as finalists to Honors Orchestra


Collin was named a finalist in the District 214 Honors Orchestra Instrumental Concerto Competition along with Gloria (violin). These two musicians representing Rolling Meadows will perform at a recital to be held at Forest View on January 15th before a panel of judges who will select the competition winner from six finalists from all of District 214.
The winners will perform their concerto as a solo piece with the Honors Orchestra on March 5th. Congratulations on your accomplishment and continued success.
