Jazz in the Meadows
will celebrate 25 years in 2010!!
It's the largest
High School Jazz event/competition in the Midwest and takes
place in February every year. Nearly 100 High School and
Junior High Jazz Bands from all over the Midwest area come to
play and compete in nearly 120 performances. The day is filled
with great music and clinics. Then at the end of the day a
featured Jazz group or Artist headlines the day with a Grand
Finale performance. This is our single most important event
of the year. We ask that as a band parent; please help in
anyway you can. There are many volunteer opportunities. Please
contact the Music Boosters to find out how you can help.

Jazz in the Meadows a complete success!
Another
Jazz in the Meadows has come and gone and we could not have done
it without all of the generous volunteer support from our band
parents, alumni students and their parents, family members and
friends. The day was extremely busy... students from all over
the Midwest filled the schools hallways with music.
Congratulations to Warren High School in Gurnee, Illinois

up and down the hallways all day...
A “Big Thank you” to everyone for their help with JITM. I have
already received numerous compliments on how helpful the parents
and students were throughout the day. Thanks also to the
alumni, alumni parents, or parents who don't have kids in the
program anymore, who still came and helped with the day. Also,
a really big thank you to all the parents and students who
picked up extra shifts to help for those parents who either
didn't volunteer or didn't show up. Michael and I will be
publishing a list of names of parents who helped with JITM in
upcoming concert programs. As you know, we couldn't run this
festival with out all of the help and support.

The
entire Music Department benefits from JITM
Many people might think that
JAZZ IN THE MEADOWS only benefits the jazz students. "Not
true" says Mr. Buti. This is our single most important
fundraiser that the Music Boosters run. Contrary to popular
belief, the money is not spent on the RMHS jazz program alone.
In fact, find out how the entire Music Department benefits from
our largest event. Click here to learn more.
