A few notes from our Director of Bands...

~At this year's JAZZ IN THE MEADOWS festival, numerous soloists from our own groups were recognized with Outstanding Musician Certificates. Congratulations to the following jazz musicians: Jazz Band II Lisa Delmedico on Alto Sax. Jazz Ensemble I- John Becker on Guitar and Lisa Delmedico on Baritone Sax Jazz Combo Steve Odon on Piano and Joey Klein on Alto Sax.

~Once again a music student has risen to the top of his class. Each year the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) ask our school to nominate one male student that demonstrate the qualities of dependability, honesty, courtesy, respect, leadership and patriotism. This year's winner is Stephen Odon.

What's it all about?
Our largest fundraising event of the year "Jazz in the Meadows" will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2008. We will celebrate 23 years of hosting the largest High School Jazz event/competition in the Midwest. Nearly 100 High School and Junior High Jazz Bands from all over the Midwest area come to play and compete in nearly 120 performances. The day is filled with great music and clinics.  Then at the end of the day a featured Jazz group or Artist headlines the day with a Grand Finale performance. Read more here about Jazz in the Meadows.

The entire Music Department benefits from JITM
Many people might think that JAZZ IN THE MEADOWS only benefits the jazz students. "Not true" says Mr. Buti. This is our single most important fundraiser that the Music Boosters run. Contrary to popular belief, the money is not spent on the RMHS jazz program alone. In fact, find out how the entire Music Department benefits from our largest event. Click here to learn more.
