Winter Color Guard 2007 State Champs at IDTA!!

2006 Color Guard Homecoming Banner 1st Place

On Saturday, March 17th, the Rolling Meadows High School Winter Color Guard and Winter Poms competed in the Illinois Drill Team Association's State Contest in the Assembly Hall on the campus of the University of Illinois.
In the AAA Kick division, the RMHS Poms came in 7th place with a score of 156.3. This is the first time in over 15 years that the Poms have competed at this level. In the AAA Short Flag division, the RMHS Winter Color Guard came in a very strong 1st place and was crowned State Champions. This performance completed an undefeated season for that routine. Their score was a 171.2. Stevenson took 2nd place with a score of 149.3.
In the AAA Lyrical Tall Flag division, the RMHS Winter Color Guard came in 2nd place in a tight race with a score of 168.3. First place went to St. Charles East (172.5) and 3rd place went to Downers Grove North (160.8). "This was a great way to end a very rewarding and enjoyable season, " said head coach Christopher Buti. Assistant Coach, Allison Kyte adds, "The girls worked very hard all season and showed a tremendous amount of growth and development in their dancing and flag twirling skills."

In addition to the team placements, squad members were recognized for participation and academic achievement. Both seniors Lisa Powell and Emily Miller were named as IDTA Scholars due to their ability to be involved in the school's squad while maintaining a high GPA. Furthermore, from a rigorous application process, Emily Miller was awarded a $500 scholarship from IDTA.

The 2007 State Champion RMHS Winter Color Guard members:
Hanna Geraghty, Nicole Koob, Carrie Kruschel, Emily Miller, Jodie Moore, Sandra Moore, Lisa Powell, Kelly Ronney, Kris Sciame, Katie Suchocki, and Liz Toth. Captains, and soloists for this season's routines, are Emily Miller and Liz Toth. Christopher Buti, Allison Kyte, and Maureen Prosser-Buti coach the squad. The group practiced on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school at the Forest View Educational Center.
