Qualifying for IDTA Super Sectionals is huge. To qualify for
Super Sectionals you need to score a certain amount of points on
your routines. You need to qualify to compete/participate
in Super Sectionals. You must compete at Super Sectionals to
qualify to compete/participate at the State competition.
Our team qualified for Super Sectionals with both routines the
first time they
performed them in competition. The girls were truly amazing.
Tied 1st Place Lyrical Flag and took 1st Place in Short Flag.
Pom Dance Category, the RMHS Poms tied for 4th place Kick Category, the RMHS Poms took 3rd place and
qualified for
Super Sectionals.
Palatine H.S. Re-Cap 1-27-07
by Laura Suchocki

At their first competition in the newly formed Team Dance
Illinois at Palatine H.S.this weekend on 1/27/07, the girls won
first place is short flag and qualified for TDI state (which is
different from IDTA state) and tied for second place with
Hoffman Estates for Lyrical Flag which also qualifies them for
state.
This was the first of two TDI Competitions. This is the
innaugural season for TDI (Team Dance Illinois). Me. Buto was
excited that it would allow the team to have more opportunities
to compete. It seems the team has started off on the right path.
Prairie Ridge H.S. Re-Cap 2-5-07 by
Chris Buti
On Saturday, February 3rd, the RMHS
WCG competed in
the Prairie Ridge Invitational sponsored by Team
Dance Illinois. In the
Short Flag category, RMHS outscored
their competitors, Schaumburg and
Stevenson, by over 8 points
and came in 1st place. The performance also
qualified for
a TDI State bid. In a tight race at the top, RMHS
outscored
Palatine by .3 to take 1st place Lyrical Tall Flag and
receive another TDI
State Qualification bid. According to
head coach, Christopher Buti, "The
Lyrical performance showed a
great deal of improvement in the technical
area which was
evident in the scores." Also, in this performance
the squad
wore brand new dresses. "The new dresses added
to the overall artistic
effect of the routine," added assistant
coach, Allison Kyte. The award
winning RMHS Winter Color
Guard has two regular season competitions in
the IDTA circuit
before Super sectionals and State. For more information

Winter Color
Guard and Poms qualify for IDTA State Contest at U of I
On Saturday, March 3rd, the Rolling Meadows High School Winter
Color Guard and Winter Poms both competed in the IDTA
Supersectional contest at Andrew High School. In addition to
placements, teams were aiming to score a 78 or higher to qualify
for the IDTA State contest that will be held in the Assembly
Hall on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign on
March 17th.
In the Lyrical Tall Flag category, the RMHS squad
scored 86 to come in 2nd place behind St. Charles East. More
importantly, the squad scored high enough to qualify for State.
The RMHS routine is done to the song, "My Only Hope," sung by
Mandy Moore. The routine is enhanced beautifully by flowing pale
blue dresses, faded blue flags, intricate drill maneuvers,
flowing flag choreography, and elegant dance moves.
In the Short Flag category,
the RMHS squad scored 88 and took 1st place, Supersectional
Champions. More importantly, the squad scored high enough to
qualify for State. The RMHS routine is done to the song,
"Thinking Over," by Dana Glover. The routine is a blend of
lyrical and fast moves. The routine is enhanced by intricate
drill maneuvers, colorful flag choreography, tosses, and various
dance moves. "This was by far the squad's strongest and cleanest
performance of this routine all season,"claims head coach Mr.
Christopher Buti.
In the Pom Dance category,
the RMHS Pom squad scored a 75.45 to come in 10th place in a
very large field of competitors. In the Kick category, the RMHS
Pom Squad scored a 80.95 to come in 3rd place behind Argo and
Lockport. More importantly, the squad scored high enough to
qualify for State. This only the second time in recent years
that RMHS Poms have been competing in IDTA contests, and their first
trip to the state contests.
"The girls worked very hard to get here and are extremely
excited," claims head coach, Jennifer Nelson. The RMHS routine
is done to the high energy song, "My Strongest Suit." The
routine is enhanced by complex formations and movement, high
kicks, and high energy dance.
Both squads will be making the trip down to Champaign for the
March 17th State Contest. For information about performance
times, consult the IDTA website
www.idta.org the
