It's 25 years for Jazz in the Meadows...
On Saturday, February 27, 2010, we'll celebrate 25 years of hosting the largest High School Jazz event/competition in the Midwest. Nearly 100 High School and Junior High Jazz Bands from all over the Midwest area come to play and compete in nearly 120 performances. The day is filled with great music and clinics.  Then at the end of the day afeatured Jazz group or Artist headlines the day with a Grand Finale performance. This is our single most important event of the year. We're asking every band parent help volunteer in anyway you can. There are many opportunities. Volunteer to help us at Jazz in the Meadows
“Jazz in the Meadows” (known as JITM) brings in High schools and Junior High students from all over the Midwest; Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri and Illinois. We need your Volunteer help on this special day. It’s actually Print out a sign up form here. Please fill it out and return it as soon as possible to Diane Layden or Mr. Buti. We have many positions that need to be filled and we can’t host this outstanding event without your help.

Why should I help? Just because it says “JAZZ” in the Meadows doesn’t mean it benefits Jazz students only! It’s the Music Department’s largest fundraiser and all proceeds help offset costs to support Orchestra, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Color Guard and the Jazz bands. The Department is able to pay for instructors that help at clinics, purchase instruments, cases, equipment, uniforms, music and more. RMHS violinist to perform at State honors festival

Melissa Priller, violinist from RMHS, was this year's winner in the District 214 Concerto Competition. She played the Khachaturian Violin Concerto and beat six other musicians from around the district. Melissa will be performing this piece of music in concert with the District 214 Honors Orchestra at the Honors Festival in March. Congratulations!!

Color Guard Rep needed
If you have a daughter in the Winter Color Guard I could use your help. I need someone to take pictures and write a little story on their competition performances throughout their season. All of your information will be published on our website and in the newsletters. So, if you’re attending the competitions… please consider taking on this position. Alumni join the "Friends of the Music Boosters."
Now that you've graduated we'd like to still stay in touch with you, your parents and families. Join the "Friends of the Music Boosters".  We're inviting all Alumni parents and students for a little help so we can continue to support the outstanding music programs at RMHS. The cost is only $10.00 for a years' subscription.  We'll send you our membership card that provides discount admission to all of our Music Department events throughout a school year and include you in our e-mail Newsletter.


Print out the membership form here and send it in today. Check our website for concert dates. Use your card at any of the Music Department concerts and Jazz in the Meadows too! Just present the card when purchasing your tickets to an event and you and three others will get $1.00 off admission. Allow 2-3 weeks for delivery.

We're going to Disney World in sunny Orlando Florida! The trip is planned over spring break March 22-26, 2010. Click here to view the proposed trip schedule and payment plan. What parents need to know about the RMHS Music Department.
Rolling Meadows High School has a very active Music Department. Marching Band, Jazz Band I & II, Jazz Combo, Pep Band, Orchestra, Symphonic & Concert Band. Information can be found throughout this site and our Director of Bands website as well. There is a lot of information here for you. If you have any questions just contact us. Donate your used or unwanted instruments to RMHS Music Dept.
Do you have Instruments at home not being used? Put them to good use and donate them to the RMHS Music Department. Even if they're not in working condition. Call Mr. Buti at (847) 718-5752 or e-mail chris.buti@d214.org
